4 New Year’s Resolutions That’ll Keep Seniors Young at HeartJanuary 28, 2018 | Chateau Brickyard
Staying active and getting involved with the people around you are a few ways that seniors can keep-on-keeping-on and feel young. But as 2018 begins and we head into the rest of the year, we wanted to take a look at four specific things seniors can do to stay young at heart. Let's dig in:
Exercise, Exercise, Exercise
Studies show that even as little as ten minutes a day of exercise can help a person feel young energized and refreshed. Ten minutes can go by extremely fast. You can fill it with activities like jumping jacks, pushups, sit ups, or even a simple walk. And hey, if 10 minutes feel too easy after a few weeks of steady exercise, explore the potential of adding more time - move to 20 minutes, maybe even 30. Whatever makes you feel good.
Memories of Friends Both New and Old
Our friends are what tie us to reality. We need our friends. Old friends from grade school, to new friends in our senior living communities - they're all important. Reviving an old friendship or making a new one is a great way to keep yourself active and involved with people. Here at Chateau Brickyard, we have a large selection of activities to do with your friends--and with a simple Facebook account, you can rekindle that friendship with a long-lost bestie. Reminisce about old times or create new adventures--building friendships in 2018 is a must.
Rebuild Old Hobbies
Whether you used to paint or you built model airplanes, bringing back an old hobby from year's past is a spectacular way to staying energized and youthful. Many hobbies require you to use your hands and they also ignite the brain's creativity, and we all know creativity is one of the keys to youth. So, we urge you in the new year to dust off any hobbies you may have put to bed and start feeling like yourself again!
Learn About Technology Trends
Technology is growing rapidly and it's showing no signs of slowing down. What better way to connect with your youthful vigor than by learning something brand new? Staying abreast of current technology trends can be both a fun and learning experience. Take a course about smartphones or make a greeting card with Photoshop - learning the basics can be the beginning of something new.
We hope our community takes the time to make 2018 one of the best, and we look forward to seeing what new year's resolutions you have in mind for yourself!
