5 Things You Might Not Know About Independent Living at Chateau BrickyardFebruary 20, 2017 | Chateau Brickyard
There are many active senior living options available in the Salt Lake City area, and we understand that choosing the right place for your loved one can be a difficult decision. Often, families feel that they don't have enough information about the services offered or what a community is really like. We hope that after reading this blog, you'll have a better idea of the amenities that make our active and independent senior living residents proud to call Chateau Brickyard home.
Five things that make Chateau Brickyard special:
1. We Offer Scheduled Transportation
As an active lifestyle community, much of our fun happens off the premises and in the neighboring communities. For these events and activities near Millcreek, UT, and the surrounding Salt Lake City area, transportation is provided for residents. Seasonal events like Zoo Lights at Hogle Zoo, the Festival of Trees, and the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Concert are always a big hit. We also provide transportation for weekly shopping trips, outlet mall shopping adventures, scenic drives, local volunteering opportunities, and Dinner Club.
2. We Care About Our Residents' Opinions
Every month, our residents participate in a Town Hall Meeting with our Executive Director Brittany. She likes to keep the floor open for the residents to voice their opinions and concerns about life at our community. We also have an Activities Meeting once a month with our Activities Director Gigi. In this meeting, residents have the opportunity to suggest new activities to add to that month's calendar. Several activities are resident-led, including Apples to Apples, knitting and crocheting, and Daily Chronicles. Daily Chronicles is a resident favorite where they talk about events that happened on that day in history.
3. We Love "Happy Hour"
Every Friday from 3-4 p.m., residents enjoy Happy Hour which has become one of our most popular activities. This activity used to simply be a time for residents to visit with each other, but it quickly morphed into a time where they can play oldies music, dance, socialize, and have fun!
4. We Are Pet Friendly
Chateau Brickyard is a pet-friendly independent living community that allows seniors to keep their beloved pets or obtain new furry friends. We believe that pets are a wonderful addition to the home and that they enrich seniors' lives. You can read all about our active seniors and their pets in our recent blog post Man's Best Friend: Pets at Chateau Brickyard.
5. We Believe in Learning for Life
Part of senior independent living is trying new hobbies and activities and learning new skills. As such, we offer our residents a weekly Spanish class that caters to both individuals who have never spoken the language and those who have previously studied it. This class is popular because it helps our residents accomplish new goals, and enables some of them to communicate with in-laws and grandchildren who are Spanish speakers. Read more about our Spanish Class here.
