A Day At The LakeApril 03, 2017 | Orchard Park
"A great fisherman's confidence to catch fish comes from his passion, not his gear."
Going fishing is one of those classic, relaxing pastimes that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. For some, it's a fun activity to enjoy from time to time, and for others, it's a passion.
One of our beloved Orchard Park Senior Living residents would often talk about what it was like to get his fishing license back in the day, and would share stories of those memorable fishing trips where he got to reel in the big catch. Once we heard his stories and memories about one of his favorite hobbies, we knew we had to recreate this feeling for him.
This resident's WOW! Moment began when we took him to sign up for a new fishing license. After getting the OK to go fishing in our local waterways, the real adventure could begin. Accompanied an Orchard Park staff member, the two drove down to the local lake and set up their fishing poles for the day. Unfortunately, our resident didn't get to bring in a big catch as he had in his earlier days of fishing, but he and the staff enjoyed a fun and relaxing day by the lake. By the end of the day, they hadn't caught any fish but this WOW! Moment wasn't over yet. We knew that the resident's favorite meal was steak, so we barbecued some steak next to the lake and shared the meal with him to cap off a great day. He'll be talking about this memorable experience for a long time!
