A Firefighter At HeartJanuary 25, 2017 | Pine Rock Manor
Our beloved resident Richard Cullen was a former fire department chief. He served as a firefighter in Stratford Connecticut for over 30 years. We really wanted to do something special to help honor Richard for his incredible service and to help him celebrate his passion for firefighting. One afternoon, several members of the Pine Rock Manor activity staff accompanied Richard to the local fire museum in Warner, New Hampshire. The museum houses a wide array of antique firefighting equipment and historical photos.
Richard browsed the museum with a huge smile and happily shared stories as he explored the museum's exhibits. He reminisced about his firefighting career and passion for helping others. He expressed how much he enjoyed all the artifacts they had on display. As the staff watched Richard and his enthrallment with the museum's deep history, we were all reminded of his genuine, warm personality and remarkable bravery.
Richard was born May 7, 1932 and has recently passed. Here at Pine Rock Manor, he was always trying to help others and ensure that they were safe and well. Our community's residents and staff are so lucky to have gotten to know Richard through his residency at Pine Rock Manor. We feel honored to have been able to share this WOW! Moment with this incredibly kind and remarkable man, and extend our sincerest sympathy to Richard's friends and family
