A Lovely Day At Lili CafeApril 03, 2017 | Schenley Gardens
Our kitchen team at Schenley Gardens Senior Living does a fantastic job of tailoring meals to residents' dietary needs and preferences. We get to know our residents' likes dislikes and favorite foods. Whether it's low sodium, sugar free, or vegan, our award-winning chefs delight in making meals that are tasty and healthy.
One of our residents, Nancy, is a vegetarian. While she always has several meat-free options to choose from, we thought it would be special treat to take her to a nearby vegetarian restaurant, with a full menu of vegetarian and vegan options! On February 13th, Marcia, our Memory Care Coordinator, took Nancy out for brunch at Lili Cafe, an adorable eatery located in the Polish Hill section of Pittsburgh. Nancy's dear friend Michele also joined for the fun.
The menu at Lili's Cafe is extensive. Nancy was excited to have so many choices, but found it all a little overwhelming. We were able to help her narrow it down to a spinach quesadilla and a slice of banana nut bread. Once the food arrived, Nancy wasted no time in getting down to eating, and really enjoyed her meal. We think her clean plate says it all!
In addition to serving up delicious vegetarian cuisine, Lili's Cafe also serves as a community art space. Nancy enjoyed taking in some of the art on display, particularly the pieces featuring horses, one of her favorite animals.
It was a special day for Nancy and for all who got to be a part of it!
