Bingo to Tai Chi—Our Favorite Ways to Stay Active around Heritage PlaceNovember 17, 2015 | Heritage Place
Heritage Place is one of the most vibrant and active senior living communities in Davis County. Our assisted living community is not only a place to live, but a place to have fun, spend time with friends, learn about maintaining health, and stay active. Our senior living community enjoys a variety of activities each day of the week, with on-site events like cooking classes, games, and health training, and off-site events that get our residents involved with the larger community of Bountiful and Salt Lake City, UT.
Some of our most popular events have been nail spas for the ladies, arts and crafts projects group, audiobook listening, crossword puzzle day, pie socials, help with humanitarian projects and of course, Bingo! All kinds of board games, card games, and a Wii video-game system are available for our residents to enjoy. Wii bowling competitions are a regular activity.
We make a point to celebrate each resident's birthday on their birthday and to make holidays special, for example, by hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for our memory care residents and their families. And for our residents that are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we offer Sunday and weekday worship services and a hymnal youth choir every Sunday evening.
We know how important routine physical health and exercise are for active senior living, so we also provide various physical fitness programs throughout the week as well as access to open physical therapy gyms with on-hand licensed therapy staff.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, residents can take part in water aerobics, which promotes strength in the limbs and helps to increase blood flow without being overly taxing. Chair aerobics offers similar benefits and is easy for less mobile residents to attend.
Our Tai Chi program has also been hugely successful. Tai Chi is great for senior residents, both physiologically and psychologically. Tai Chi helps train the body for balance, which may help reduce the chance of a fall and can also aid in relieving stress, anxiety, and depression.
We provide a Tailored Preferences approach to our activities program, because the collected knowledge and experience of our residents is our greatest asset when it comes to developing new and innovative events and activities. We are always open to suggestions and ideas from our residents for new activities and exercise routines to make the entire senior living community happy and healthy.
