Celebrating Mardi Gras!March 11, 2020
Find your best beads and get in a bite of yummy king cake! These True Blue Mardi Gras celebrations can’t be beat! Here at Blue Harbor Senior Living, we love finding special ways to fill our calendars with the most fun – and what is more fun than Mardi Gras?
Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday. But did you know it's also called Shrove Tuesday, Carnival Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday? There is so much history behind this great day!
Each one of our True Blue communities planned a Mardi Gras celebration and we just loved seeing the unique ideas they came up with. From craft parties to parades, our communities truly know how to throw a good party.
In this edition of the True Blue blog, let’s take a look at a few Mardi Gras highlights from some of our communities!
Our very own Shreveport, Louisiana-based community, Waterview Court, located just hours away from New Orleans knew how to take Mardi Gras to the next level. They hosted an Annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball with The Duchess of Louisiana Gemini Krewe as their special guest and had jazz music performed by Ray & Remix; what an amazing time! Family, friends and folks from the community attended the event. And their very own King and Queen – Mr. & Mrs. Rowell – oversaw the night along with Lil’ Waterview Princess, Julie Ann. They ate, danced, laughed and socialized the night away!
What a hoot! Lionwood residents and staff were not shy about displaying their beautiful masks and enjoying a splendid Mardi Gras party. You can never have enough beads, right?!
Courtyards at River Park
Our beautiful community Courtyards at River Park enjoyed making masks before the dancing started at their Mardi Gras-themed party, which featured music from Marica Rose! It was an absolute blast.
We couldn’t snap a photo of the king cake before residents at Amara Place ate it all up at their Mardi Gras happy hour. But we promise it was yummy!
Throughout March, we’ll be highlighting even MORE Mardi Gras celebrations from our communities. Be sure to follow us on Facebook for updates!
