Chateau Brickyard Residents and Staff Share Their Favorite Holiday TraditionsDecember 05, 2016 | Chateau Brickyard
Here at Chateau Brickyard Senior Living, our independent living residents and staff are really getting into the holiday spirit! Salt Lake City, UT, looks especially beautiful during the winter holidays--the streets lined with holiday lights and decorations, and majestic snow-capped mountains visible from miles away.
A Time to Celebrate
The holidays are a time to celebrate our love of friends family and life. From special musical performances to community Christmas parties to cozy resident happy hours, our December activities calendar has been jam-packed with fun holiday-themed celebration.
Hear It From Our Residents
The holidays often stir up fond memories of growing up, family traditions, and fun gatherings. While we have some shared traditions, everyone has their own unique traditions.
We thought that sharing these unique traditions would be a great way for us to bond with the senior residents and the senior care staff, and learn a little more about them too! So we decided to ask everyone about their favorite holiday traditions. What'd they share?
Our Staff and Residents' Favorite Holiday Traditions
Kaley G. Chateau Brickyard Senior Care Staff
Kaley's favorite holiday tradition growing up? Going to her grandma's house to have ham dinner, open gifts, and best of all, enjoy family time.
Jordan M. Chateau Brickyard Senior Care Staff
Many kids can hardly sleep on Christmas Eve, eagerly awaiting the arrival of Christmas morning. Jordan's family made it a little bit more exciting, starting the gift opening before the sun rose! "When I was little," Jordan told us, "our tradition was waking up at 4:00 a.m. to open presents."
David S. Chateau Brickyard Resident
David's favorite holiday tradition? Taking a picture with Santa! If his smile was as wide and joyous as it is today, we're certain his pictures with Santa were adorable!
Denisse C. Chateau Brickyard Senior Care Staff
Denisse told us, "I like to wear pink for Christmas. It is the color my family wore too, so we all matched!"
Randall B. Chateau Brickyard Resident
Randall grew up where there was snow! His favorite holiday tradition? Going sledding on the hill outside his house with his siblings. "I would go sledding after opening presents," Randall told us.
Geraldine S. Chateau Brickyard Resident
"When my husband was still with us, we used to take the kids and travel to a different place. We spent Christmas in a different place every year," Geraldine told us. Such an adventurous spirit! Nowadays, Geraldine's new annual tradition is to go to her son's house and spend Christmas with him.
What are your favorite holiday traditions? Take a moment to share with your friends, family, and loved ones.
