Elvis & The Teddy BearSeptember 08, 2017 | Lionwood
Carol Moody is arguably the biggest Elvis Presley fan there ever was. Carol, one of our kind residents here at Lionwood, doesn't go a day without mentioning Elvis, or delighting in the fact that she happens to share his same birthday -- January 9, 1935. Not only does Carol listen to Elvis' music regularly, but she also happens to know the lyrics to each and every song, has traveled so watch him perform live, and has even visited Elvis' estate in Memphis known as Graceland. But the one thing Carol never had the opportunity to experience was singing her favorite song "Teddy Bear" with the King himself. When the team at Lionwood found out about this lifelong dream of Carol's, we set out to make her wish come true.
Recently, Lionwood threw an all-day 1950s party in which residents got to dress up, listen to tunes of their time, and reminisce with one another. We knew Carol would be attending, so we arranged to have Elvis perform live for the crowd. Carol was the first resident to show up for the performance, and she of course chose the front seat! During Elvis's performance, Carol was all smiles, and you could see the twinkle in her eyes as he called her up so he could sing "Teddy Bear" to her. With an ear-to-ear grin, Carol was soon presented with something she'd never forget -- a personalized teddy bear, scarf, and autographed picture from Elvis. Truly, this was an unforgettable moment in Carol's life. She quickly thanked everyone and said it was an absolute dream come true. Not only that, she told us it was the best day of her life!
Carol still talks about the day Elvis visited and sang to her. The team at Lionwood will always remember her beaming expressions and laughs of pure joy. It was an incredible WOW! Moment that we will never forget.
