Homemade Sangria!December 21, 2016 | Barkley Place
Every month Barkley Place hosts a Ladies Tea get-together, giving the senior ladies in our community a chance to socialize and maybe meet their neighbors. One of these wonderful ladies, Dolores Scialla, not only helps run our Ladies Tea events but also attends each and every one of the gatherings. She's well-known by everyone and our community loves her!
Dolores is so incredibly helpful in our community and adds so much positivity everywhere she goes. So when the opportunity arose to help Dolores with something she wanted to do, we couldn't turn it down.
What seemed like a small gesture to our staff became a WOW! Moment for Dolores. On one hot Florida day, Dolores was craving some cold fruity sangria. She decided to go to the supermarket and picked up all the necessary supplies to make it just how she likes it. What started out as a small grocery trip turned into a bigger project, and Dolores was worried that actually making the sangria would be too much work. Our beloved bus driver Georgie caught wind of Dolores' dilemma and decided to help!
Georgie took all the sangria ingredients home and made a wonderful drink for Dolores. Dolores loved it so much that she even decided to bring it to our Happy Hour event to share with the other residents there. Even though this was a simple gesture from Georgie, we could tell how happy Dolores was to have her favorite drink! To make it even more fun, Georgie also joined in and tried her sangria with Dolores. It was indeed delicious! We hope to share more of our residents' favorite drinks at upcoming Happy Hours!
