Jack On The RadioJuly 08, 2016 | Residence at Glen Riddle
One of our residents, Jack, has been a lifelong fan of talk radio. He's always dreamed of getting the chance to be live on air, but at age 98, didn't think that it was a dream that would ever become a reality. Luckily for Jack, another one of our resident's grandsons, Brian Soscia, is a DJ at Wilmington, Delaware radio station 93.7 WSTW. When we contacted Brian about Jack, he jumped at the chance to make this lifelong dream come true, and arranged to have Jack visit the station.
Jack's visit started with a tour of the radio station. He got to meet all the DJs, producers, and staff. He loved talking to everyone about their jobs and they happily answered all of his questions about the inner workings of the station. He even got to learn how to work the studio equipment and sound system.
The highlight of the visit was when Brian invited Jack to sit in on his set and help him DJ. Jack got to introduce the station, announce songs, give the weather report, promote the Firefly Music Festival, and even answer listener emails live on the air. Jack was so calm, cool, and collected that Brian joked Jack might be hired to replace him. The day at the radio station was truly a dream come true for Jack, and it was an honor for the staff at Glen Riddle to work with Brian Soscia and everyone at 93.7 WTSW to make it possible.
