Jane Adopts a Giraffe!January 03, 2020 | Kirkwood Corners
Our incredible resident Jane lives at Kirkwood Corners, our beautiful senior living community in Lee, New Hampshire. She absolutely loves animals! Before she transitioned into assisted living, she rehomed her dogs and horses. This was very tough for her, and we always wanted to make sure to honor her love of animals.
Love at First Sight!
Last year, the Kirkwood team and residents went on a trip to the local fair. Jane fell in love with two giraffes that travel around from fair to fair. She was instantly over the moon! She loved feeding them carrot sticks. She was in awe of their size and how gracefully they would lean over the fence to come down for a snack.
After the visit to the fair, she kept talking about how much she loved the amazing giraffes. We decided to make another trip to the fair the following week so that more people could meet “Jane’s giraffes”! What a sweet experience.
We wanted to make sure and honor Jane’s lovely new friends! So, the Kirkwood team arranged a very special happening. A giraffe was “adopted” in Jane’s name! The team put the adoption paper and a photo of the giraffe in a frame. They also got Jane a new stuffed animal (of course, a giraffe!) to add to her ever-growing collection. She was so excited to learn that she now officially has her very own giraffe, even if he does live in Africa. How wonderful!
