Kindness & CandyDecember 20, 2016 | Desert Flower
Aldona 'Donut' Cross is a warmhearted and delightful woman. She may be quiet, but there is a sparkle in her eyes that tells a beautiful story. Aldona has worked hard to get where she is today, and is truly deserving of all the success that has come her way. At the tender age of nine, she adopted a deep interest in helping the lives of others by working alongside her mother. She lent a hand in their garden and her mother's shop. Together, they made flower bouquets and canned goods for family, friends, and neighbors. She went on to work twenty-five years at the same company and raised three kids. After Aldona retired, she volunteered another ten years in a hospital.
The staff at Desert Flower asked, "If you could have anything you wanted what would it be?" Aldona kindly replied, "To have peace in the world." Her simple response is a perfect example of Aldona's kind heart and good character.
The staff wanted to do something special in return for her hard work and generosity. To bring back memories of Aldona's fudge-making days, we took her on a private tour of the Cerreta Candy Company. The outing consisted of an informative behind-the-scenes tour and lots of delicious samples. She had a great time reminiscing about her memorable fudge-making days.
Aldona is truly one of a kind. She is an outstanding and active citizen with a great commitment to kindness. The Desert Flower community is lucky to have to her as a contributing resident. It was a joy to watch her learn about something she loves.
