Linda’s New HairOctober 04, 2017 | Barkley Place
Linda is one of our residents here at Barkley Place and is a breast cancer survivor. Despite the challenges she has faced, she keeps a positive outlook on life. She is always giving and putting the needs of others above her own. After she had grown out her hair that she loved so dearly, Linda decided that it was time to let go and bless someone else with it.
When Linda was undergoing chemo years ago, she lost all her hair. Once her treatment was over in 2007, she started to grow out her hair because she had missed it so much. Linda was ready to donate her hair, but was concerned that no stylist would be able to properly care for it nor give her a good cut. The team at Barkley Place decided that we could turn this into a real WOW! Moment for Linda. We found the best most popular stylist in the area and arranged for Linda to have her hair cut in the salon.
Because of Linda's generosity, several inches of her beautiful hair were donated to Great Lengths, an organization that makes wigs for cancer patients. Once the hair had been cut, the stylist trimmed Linda's hair to perfectly frame her face. She blow-dried and curled Linda's hair and we could all agree that Linda looked 10 years younger! She could not have been happier with the cut, especially because all of the other residents were talking about how beautiful she looked when she came back that day. This was a great WOW! Moment for Linda and the team.
