Mr. Hackett Loves Baseball!June 05, 2019
One of the cornerstones of the True Blue approach? WOW! Moments! The more we get to know a resident, the more we understand their dreams and passions. We love to make these dreams come true!
One of our wonderful communities, The Gardens Senior Living, in Biloxi, MS, wanted to plan something special for their dear resident Mr. Hackett. Mr. Hackett is a 93-year-old veteran who loves baseball, especially his Boston Red Sox!
The Meeting of Heroes
So, what did we decide to do? The team at The Gardens were able to coordinate for Dylan Hardy of the Boston Red Sox to come by and visit Mr. Hackett. Mr. Hackett had no idea he was coming, and was overjoyed. Dylan is originally from the Biloxi area before he was recruited by the Boston Red Sox. It meant the world to Mr. Hackett to have his visitor come spend time with him!
Mr. Hackett had Dylan sign his door sign (which of course was a Red Sox wood sign!). Dylan also signed Mr. Hackett’s hat along with his daughter’s Red Sox cap! When they were saying their goodbyes, Mr. Hackett kept telling Dylan he had a wonderful road ahead and knows he will do well. Even though we were “giving” this moment to Mr. Hackett, Mr. Hackett was inspiring the young man, too. It was heart-wrenching for both of them to say goodbye to each other!
