Old Friends and New TraditionsApril 27, 2017 | Barkley Place
Resident Nancy Brady is always eager to offer a helping hand to residents and staff alike. She regularly assists at Barkley Place's happy hour, and eagerly tends to the community's butterfly garden. Nancy is always the first to offer help to fellow residents in need of assistance. Her generosity does not go unnoticed! We are incredibly lucky to have Nancy as an active member of our community.
This year, Nancy was disappointed because she wasn't able to go home for Christmas. The staff was determined to bring the joys of the holiday season to Nancy at Barkley Place. The staff organized a special afternoon to help her feel appreciated and loved. The staff invited two of Nancy's closest friends and current Barkley Place residents, Helen and Dolores, to a gift exchange. Nancy's sincere reaction to the surprise made this a very special WOW! Moment for everyone involved. They shared laughs over a glass of wine and exchanged homemade gifts. Nancy received a Christmas wreath, a snow globe, and a snowman. Nancy was overjoyed and could hardly believe how much thought everyone put into making her feel so loved and special.
The surprise holiday gift exchange was a huge success! Although she was not able to go home for the holidays, Nancy loved the company of her beloved friends, and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate in a fun, festive, and meaningful way. This WOW! Moment showed the staff and residents the importance of spending the holidays with people you care about. We are so happy that we were able to help Nancy celebrate the holiday season with old friends and new traditions!
