Our Southern Belle and a Love of Horses
November 09, 2019 | Pines of NewmarketAt Blue Harbor, we love creating WOW! Moments for our residents. These special WOW! Moments help us to show our residents just how much we know and appreciate them. Plus, it truly warms our hearts to help make our residents’ dreams come true!
In this edition of the Blue Harbor Senior Living blog, let’s take a look at a few of our recent WOW! Moments from our lovely community Pines of Newmarket.
A Love of Horses
One of our lovely residents, Marsha, grew up on the countryside in upstate New York. She loves being outside, loves being around animals, and truly loves the smell of a barn! So, the True Blue team at Pines of Newmarket knew that a day trip to a farm would be ideal for her. When the owner of a local horse farm invited The Pines out for a visit, the team knew it was meant to be!
The owner, Karen, greeted us upon our arrival. She gave us a tour of the property and shared the history with us. She introduced us to the staff and, most importantly, took us through the barn! The walk through the horse stable was such a highlight for Marsha! Her face lit up when one of the horses stuck its head out to say hello.
After Marsha gave the sweet horse a couple of cookies, they were fast friends. Marsha was reluctant to leave the horse, Bo, but after he licked her goodbye, she knew it was time to go. She was so thrilled! “God that was wonderful,” she told the team when they got back home. What a beautiful day!
A Southern Belle
Pines of Newmarket resident Lamuriel is a true Southern Belle! She came to New Hampshire to be closer to her daughter, and while she loves it in New Hampshire, she also misses the South.
When the True Blue team realized that the Country Fair Day was set to take place on Lamuriel’s 98th birthday, she knew she had to plan something special. With the help of a friend, the team was able to find a group of ladies who were willing to come to the building and do a line dancing demonstration. Lamuriel loves music and dancing, and still has 2 pairs of cowboy boots! The team and residents danced, and those that didn’t absolutely loved watching!
Lamuriel was so thrilled that she gave a pair of her boots to one of the line dancers who has never been able to find boots that fit her. And they fit! The joy on Lamuriel’s face was so evident. All those ladies were truly destined to meet that day, and it was a beautiful event to witness!
