Pease GreetersDecember 19, 2016 | Pines of Newmarket
With the generous help from our friends at the Sunrise Sunset Senior Center, we were able to take three of our WWII Veterans, Robert Polk, Jack Boiko, and Joe Lamborhgini, to the Pease Air Force Base. We met with official Pease Greeters, Bob Selfe and Dan Mitchell, to send off a flight full of soldiers. Robert, Jack, and Joe were thrilled to have an opportunity to shake hands and express their gratitude to the deploying soldiers. Our veterans were surprised when most of the troops stopped to say thank you in return. A young woman in uniform stepped out of line and hugged our resident veteran Jack. Watching our veterans interact with the serving men and women was extremely touching. There was not a dry eye among us.
Once everyone was off the plane, there was a ceremony to welcome all of the soldiers to New Hampshire for the little time that they would be in the state before heading overseas. At the ceremony, the MC recognized and honored the veterans from The Pines of Newmarket. The room filled with thunderous applause. Joe, Jack, and Robert were speechless. Countless people thanked the staff for bringing our community's veterans to the air force base. It was an honor and a privilege to witness. This very special WOW! Moment touched the hearts of the veterans, soldiers, spectators, and staff. This afternoon was truly inspirational, and a day that we will hold close to our hearts for a very long time.
