As we grow up, we often hear a lot about how to protect our skin from aging, but what about our eyes? There are many ways to keep our eyes in tip-top shape. Let’s take a look!
#1 Protect from the Sun
The UV rays from the sun can damage our eyes. That’s why it’s so important to wear sunglasses when we go outdoors—especially during the sunny summer days. If you wear prescription glasses, you can either wear contacts under your sunglasses or wear prescription sunglasses.
#2 Get Vision Checked
Be sure to protect your eyes from eyestrain by getting your vision checked frequently. This will help you stay on top of anything like cateracts or other signs of trouble. Plus, when we have the right prescription, we’re less likely to squint or grimace when straining to see. Keep your vision clear and comfortable by making sure your prescription is up to date.
#3 Try Blue Light Glasses
If you are looking at screens quite often, be sure to take breaks and to protect your eyes with blue light glasses. Blue light glasses are built to protect your eyes from digital eye strain. This can also help to fight against Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD). In addition to wearing blue light glasses, be sure to take regular breaks from the screen.
#4 Keep Eyes Lubricated
Dry eyes can create a lot of discomfort. Trying using eye drops in your eyes to keep everything lubricated throughout the day. If you find your eyes are still dry, you may want to use a nighttime ointment like Systane Nighttime Ointment or GenTeal PM.
#5 Sleep Regularly & Pamper Yourself!
Getting regular rest can help your eyes to feel refreshed and regenerated. Also, consider pampering your eyes with some spa treatments! One of our favorites is to use cucumbers on your eyes, helping to increase hydration and decrease puffiness or inflammation. So soothing!
