Rory Turns 15!September 29, 2017 | Golden Living
At Golden Living Taylorsville, everyone deserves a WOW! Moment, even our furry friends. One of our residents, Ellen, has a Polish Lowland Sheepdog named Rory, who was turning 15 years old. Sweet Rory has been a gentle and sweet companion to Ellen and many of the residents, so we decided to throw him a party!
A few days before the party, our business office manager Peter did the honors of capturing beautiful photos of Rory. After some editing, Peter ordered one of the photographs to be made onto a canvas print which was to be proudly displayed at the party and given to Ellen afterward. The other photos were printed and given to Ellen in the form of an album.
For Rory's 15th birthday, our team provided a cake complete with paw prints and balloons. We gifted him with new chew toys and doggy snacks to munch on. Residents and staff signed a homemade card with Rory's picture on the front. We bought a birthday hat and Rory wore it as he made his entrance onto the grand lounge.
Ellen was thrilled to see so many residents show up to Rory's birthday party. Everyone sang happy birthday and "How Much is That Doggie in the Window" together as Rory wagged his tail. Our activity assistant Taunia had prepared a slide show with images from Peter's photoshoot, synchronized to the Russian tune "The Flea."
Ellen was given the microphone, and she told us about Rory's loyalty, kindness, and gentleness. She said that whenever she takes him to the groomer, doggy day care, or the dog park, Rory will watch over the puppies. One day, he was even offered a job to help babysit puppies!
Our team at Golden Living Taylorsville is fortunate to have these furry companions that bring us such joy and comfort. We are honored to have shared this special day with Rory and we welcome many more!
