Sweet SurprisesDecember 19, 2016 | Kirkwood Corners
Kirkwood Corners resident Emma has always loved going to the beach and eating salt water taffy. Emma expressed that she hasn't been to the beach in many years, and mentioned how she couldn't wait to go back. After hearing about her aspirations to go to the beach, the staff at Kirkwood Corners decided to do something special for Emma. Over the summer, one of our licensed nursing assistants Bryanna brought Emma on a trip to York Beach. Emma's special day included relaxing by the beach and visiting the saltwater taffy store located on the boardwalk. The candy shop gave Emma a tour on how salt water taffy is made. After the tour, she carefully selected some of her favorite flavors to take home with her. Emma had a great time visiting the beach, learning how her favorite candy is made, and reminiscing about what she loved to do most as a child.
In addition to her summer beach excursion, Emma also received an amazing surprise this past fall. Emma grew up in a large family with many brothers and sisters. All but one of her brothers has passed away. Emma hadn't seen her only living brother Randy in over three years. To Emma's surprise, Randy made a spontaneous move to Kirkwood Corners. Emma was overjoyed to see Randy again after so many years, and thrilled to learn that he would be joining her in our community. The reunion was very special for both Emma and Randy. It was an amazing moment they were able to share together.
