True Blue and Tim Tebow’s Night to ShineApril 09, 2019
One of our amazing senior living communities, Lionwood Senior Living, was part of a very special event earlier this year: Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine.
Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine takes place at 600 different churches around the world on the same night each year. It is an event for people ages 18 to 100 who have a variety of special needs and disabilities. Each of the participants is crowned king or queen of the prom, given flowers, and then walked down the red carpet as their name is announced.
Throughout the event, there are booths set up to do the ladies’ nails or shine the men’s shoes. Local celebrities, such as college and high school sports teams, firemen, police, sheriffs, rodeo queens, or Ms. Teens are present to make the night even more special.
How We Got Connected
The Lionwood team first connected with Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine back in September when Tim Tebow’s planning committee team attended Senior Day at The Fair. The team fell in love with Lionwood’s booth and the Wizard of Oz decorations we used to decorate the booth. We offered to let them use our decorations for Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine, and even suggested that our Wizard of Oz characters could attend their event for photo opportunities for the guests. They were so excited!
Thanks to this wonderful connection, Lionwood had the opportunity to attend and participate in the Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine in El Reno, OK. Lionwood’s Business Office Manager was Dorothy and residents David, Bob, and Lillie were the lion, the tin man, and the scarecrow. We recruited our friends from Synergy Home Care to wear our good witch and bad witch costumes, as well as two members of the First Baptist Church of El Reno to wear our tornado costumes. It was so much fun!
