Veterans Day: Thanking Seniors Who Have ServedOctober 30, 2018
Blue Harbor Senior Living is lucky and honored to be home to many brave veterans. With Veterans Day approaching on Sunday, November 11, our communities are gearing up to show special appreciation for our veterans.
Here at Blue Harbor Senior Living, each community has a unique way of showing appreciation for our veterans. Many of our communities have frequent Coffee Hours for Veterans, where veterans can join together and share experiences, support, and friendship. Leading up to Veterans Day, however, it’s important that we plan special events of recognition. Read below for a few examples of how our communities will be honoring veterans—and find inspiration for how you can honor the brave veterans in your lives!
Courtyards at River Park
Our community at Courtyards at River Park in Fort Worth, TX, shared how they will be celebrating this year’s Veteran’s Day. The day will start with the Western Hills High School JROTC coming to do a flag raising ceremony in the morning. The flag ceremony will be followed by a pinning ceremony for the Courtyards veterans. The community will then enjoy a special lunch, which will be followed by musical entertainment by a band who will be playing a concert of American classics and war songs. What a beautiful way to honor these brave veterans!
Barkley Place Senior Living
Barkley Place Senior Living, our beautiful community in Fort Myers, FL, will have a big celebration on Veterans Day. To start, high school students will come over and thank the residents for their service by passing out flowers. They’ll also make signs that Barkley Place will display for the residents. In addition to the high schoolers’ visit, Barkley Place will have a music program right before dinner and will ask everyone to dress in red, white, and blue. During the program, Barkley Place will honor all the residents who served. We are certain this will be a beautiful day and program! Read all about one of their truly amazing veterans, Ettie Walsh, a true pioneer for generations to come.
Maple Court Senior Living
Our beautiful community in Knoxville, TN, Maple Court Senior Living, will be having a big day of Veterans Day celebrations. To start the day, they will have a speaker who will give out pins and certificates to the veterans. Maple Court will thank them for their service, play music, and decorate the dining room in flags and red, white, and blue. Additionally, the True Blue team plans to make a few care packages that they’ll send to men and women who are currently serving. What a beautiful way to honor the veterans.
