Walk to End Alzheimer’s!September 03, 2019
Here at Blue Harbor, we absolutely love creating WOW! Moments for our residents. We also love supporting meaningful causes, so this special moment for Kirkwood Corners Senior Living resident Janet was extra special.
Janet has lived at Kirkwood Corners for about a year and a half. She approached the True Blue team asking if we could get involved in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. We were able to set her up with her very own fundraising page. She’s already started to raise money for this very important cause, and we’ve made plans for the day of the walk with her. It’s going to be so much fun!
The Alzheimer’s Association is dedicated to helping the progress in prevention of and cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
Janet will be doing the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Seacoast, NH on Sunday, September 22, 2019. Be sure to support her fundraising efforts if you can!
In addition to supporting Janet’s fundraising goals, the True Blue team at Kirkwood Corners arranged another special event! Janet is an avid Red Sox fan. So, when the Kirkwood team was invited to a kickoff party for the Maine Alzheimer’s Association Fundraiser and opening ceremony of the Portland Sea Dogs, a minor league team in the Boston Red Sox organization, we knew that Janet just had to join! It was truly the perfect event for her.
Portland Sea Dogs
The night of the opening ceremony, the Main Chapter let us join in their Walk to End Alzheimer’s even though we were already signed up for the Seacoast, NH walk. Together, Janet, the team, and the residents walked the perimeter of the field with about 30 other people from the Maine Chapter. Everyone wore their purple shirts while people clapped. Janet said that it had been a long time since she attended a baseball game, and that this one was extra special for her!
