Will You Take This Dance? Residents Get a Second Chance at Senior Prom
November 15, 2017 | Canyon CreekHere at Canyon Creek Senior Living, October 17th marked a very special evening! Our very own assisted living residents got a second chance at Senior Prom, and let us tell you: it was so sweet and fun!
Why'd we do it and how'd it go? Read on for all the details!
Staying Young at Heart with Gratitude and Celebration
Here at Canyon Creek, we cultivate a culture of gratitude and daily celebration. To us there is always a reason to celebrate! Whether it's a resident's birthday or National Cheese Day, we'll turn any cause for celebration into a party or special group activity. Hop on over to our blog on the Power of Gratitude and Celebration for an in-depth look at the ways our seniors celebrate!
Celebration makes us feel happier, more grateful, and more connected with others. Plus, it helps to keep us young at heart! What better way to feel young at heart than to get a second chance at Senior Prom?!
"Senior" Prom: Residents Get a Second Chance
Our 2016 Senior Prom was a huge success, and we're happy to say that our 2017 Senior Prom was too! The prom was set to start at 7:00 p.m. on the evening of October 17th. In addition to our residents, high school seniors from a local high school in Cottonwood Heights, UT, joined our seniors to celebrate. Two generations of seniors all under one roof!
The students arrived an hour early to help get everything ready. The residents and students worked together to help with decorations, setting up, and refreshments. We loved watching the residents and students bond and forge new friendships as they were getting ready for their big party!
Once the prom started, the students and residents had so much fun! There were no dates so it was all about friendship, dancing, and laughing. We had a live band and played songs from the 1930s and 40s, which we know brought back lots of wonderful memories for our assisted living and memory care residents.
We absolutely loved watching our seniors bond with the students. They danced and laughed the night away! This was truly an evening for the books and we can't wait for next year.
Stay tuned on all of the senior living activities we planned in the coming months, and be sure to follow our senior living community in Cottonwood Heights, UT, on Facebook for updates and fun community insights. Thanks for reading our senior living blog!
